Air Duct Cleaning Houston

Air ducts systems getting dirty over time, and in order to keep you and your family healthy, homeowners needs to maintain the air ducts system, just like you clean your home.
HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Cooling) systems work by pulling air from the rooms to the AC unit, although the air is filtered, the fact is – filter cannot remove all of the contaminates from the air and the system will get dirty through normal use.
Another reason has to do with hot climate, the high levels of humidity in Houston area creates condensation and moist inside the AC system and eventually for mold growth. Also, air ducts provides perfect growing environment for mold spores – because it’s dark, cool and moisty. As a result, ductwork systems have to be maintained every 4-8 years. Yet, the worst thing is – hidden from our sight!
Needless to say that clean system runs more efficiently & reduces an energy costs up to 20%!

How does air duct cleaning work?

First step

Cleaning Returns Air

The Returns air are the big vents with the Air Filters inside. Their role is to bring air into the AC unit and that’s the reason why the air filter is there, to reduce the amount of dust that gets into the system. it’s also recommended to replace the Air filters every 3 months as part of the routine maintenance of the house.

Second step

Cleaning and Sanitizing the Plenum Box

In most cases, that’s the place where the mold start to grow. Hot air flows from the Return air through the AC system to the Evaporator Coil ,which is cold, the contact between hot and cool creates condensation and moisture, those leads to mold growth eventually. This process can be particularly accelerated in Southern areas where the temperature is high most of the year.

Third step

We Open, Brush, Vacuum and Sanitize each supply duct all the way to the main unit

The air from the Plenum Box flows through the air ducts to the house. As you understand, the bacteria and germs flow directly through the ducts and sink there. Throughout the process that’s the longest part. We use TruckMaster II connected to a HEPA filter Vacuum cleaner (shown in video) that brush and vacuum the duct at the same time. We also use sanitation to remove the mold from the air ducts.

Fourth step

Cleaning and Sanitize/Replace the grilles

There are cases which we can notice mold spots on the covers (Grilles). It’s important to note that it doesn’t mean the ducts contain mold, inspection required first. We take each one of the grilles and wash them with water pressure and sanitizer. Sometimes there are cases that we recommend to replace them.

Ultraviolet light to prevent mold

Eventually, after we remove the mold from the system, we highly recommend to install a UV light to prevent mold growth again. As we all know, mold fungus grows only in dark and cool places, therefore we use a UV light to simulates the Sun light. To learn more about “UV Light” press HERE
